This is a great book for teachers to use to introduce Michigan history, as the story is based around finding the missing Murdick’s Fudge recipes (recipes which have been handed down from generation to generation, and have disappeared in a sudden gust of wind. The Murdick family looks for them at the different historic and well known sites of Mackinaw City. The friendly mosquito whispers in the ears of the family members telling them where to look.
The book is also full of opportunities for teachers to use as writing lessons on alliteration, colorful language, and story elements.
